An annual tradition since 2009 is our Biking, Hiking, & Paddling Day. This year we will try again to get together at the Falmouth Boat Launch. (Last year it was flooded.)
For those who want to bike, Falmouth is the northernmost point of the Northwest Lancaster River Trail. This delightful, paved trail winds along the Susquehanna River from Falmouth to Columbia. Riders are encouraged to ride as far as they are comfortable at a speed that is comfortable for them. There are many great places to stop and take in the views of the river, including the surreal White Cliffs of Conoy.
For those who prefer to keep both feet on the ground, the trail is also a delightful place to walk comfortably, viewing the river and the various areas that the Lancaster Conservancy is working at restoring native flora along the trail.
And for those who are looking for watery recreation during these hot days, you can push your canoe or kayak into the Susquehanna River and see some of the most beautiful rock sculptures carved Mother Nature over many eons.
Is picking one too difficult? Then pick two, because after lunch, you can launch your boat, mount your bike, or put on your hiking shoes to continue the fun.
We are going to have lunch around 12:30 where we are providing the hot dogs and ask you all to bring your finest culinary creation to share with the group. Bring a chair also!!!!
The first round of fun starts at 10 am, at the Falmouth Boat Launch, 111 Collins Rd, Bainbridge, Pa 17502. Second round is whenever we finish lunch. If 10 am on a Sunday is too early for you, come for lunch and then go biking, hiking, or paddling.
