Thousand Steps Hike

  • October 23, 2021
  • 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Mapleton Depot

Join us as we hike 1000 Steps (part of the Standing Stone Trail)!

Join SSC for a hike that will get your legs ready for ski season. This hike is like an hour-long StairMaster® workout, but dont worry, there are plenty of places to rest and the views are worth every step. The hike is 1.5 (yes, 1.5) miles round trip, with a 843-ft. elevation gain. With the help of a walking stick, water and a lot of breaks, anyone can do this hike. This hike is also dog-friendly.

Directions: The Thousand Steps trail is located between Mt. Union and Huntingdon along Route 22 and is the midsection of the Standing Stone Trail. The trail head is on US 22, 2.4 miles west of the traffic light at the north end of the bridge from Mount Union where 522 meets 22. Park at the wide spot next to wood rail walkway just beyond the Thousand Steps sign.

So, partake in some Central Pennsylvania history by joining us on this hike. Hiking boots or hiking shoes are recommended. We will be starting around 11 AM. Plans for post-hike refreshments are still in the works.
