President's Corner
I hope all of you have been out on the slopes by now, enjoying the snow that has blanketed the East Coast, or maybe you have been fortunate enough to ski/board out West this season! I just returned from a ski trip to Telluride, Colorado, where the mountains were breathtaking at 12,500-feet elevation and I look forward to an upcoming western trip with SSC. I am also enjoying every opportunity to get out and ski with my friends at Seven Springs and Roundtop Mountain as this is the season we anticipate all year and it doesn't last forever. Terri Falk and her group of participants just returned from Sun Valley, Idaho, where they enjoyed a fabulous historic resort and great comradery. Monica Kurtz and her trip participants are heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this week and we wish them all a very safe and wonderful time. Our other trip leaders ~ Melody Patton, Brenda Martin, Mike Shaw and Linda Randby ~ have all been busy selling their trips and working with the resorts to make certain your ski vacations in the weeks ahead will be the very best! Thank you Trip Leaders for all your hard work!

Our Trip Committee has been discussing our destinations for 2016 and we should soon have those resorts ready to announce to our membership. There is always the contracting process so, unfortunately, we cannot announce dates until that takes place. We typically announce our trip leaders at our Spring banquet, which is scheduled for April 18 in beautiful Mount Gretna. As our 2014-15 year soon comes to an end on March 31, we will have new leadership taking over the Board of Directors. Please take the time to vote right now for our new officers, especially as we do have a lot of good candidates vying for a race for just four directors' positions. Voting closes on Tuesday so the results can be announced at the February 3 membership meeting.
I hope to see many SSC members at Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry on Saturday, February 7, cheering on all the Ski4Life participants at the base of Minuteman, in the lodge, or on the lifts and trails. This final day of our annual fundraising campaign on behalf of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be a day of celebrating passion, compassion and resolve ~ passion for the sport we love, compassion for others as we ski/ride in honor or memory of friends or family members afflicted by blood cancers, and resolve to Send Cancer Downhill by funding the research that will help eradicate blood cancers. Please see the list of SSC participants elsewhere in this newsletter that would love to have your support and encouragement next week as they help send cancer downhill. So get out and enjoy the snow, embrace each day and make it count!

     Happy Trails, Dyan Yingst
