Bike, Hike, Paddle & Picnic with Email Riders (LOCATION CHANGE!!)

PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE: Due to all the rain we have had, and the high level/fast flow of the Susquehanna River, our Sunday, August 19th Biking, Hiking and Kayaking Gathering will be at a NEW BUT FAMILIAR LOCATION, Pinchot State Park.

Mark your calendars for a day of fun! Grab your bikes and boats and join us at Governor Pinchot State Park's Conewago Day Use area for a day of play on Sunday, August 19. Starting at 9:30 am you can launch your kayak/canoe from the Conewago Parking Area, ride a bike, or take a hike along the trail.

After the morning’s activities, everyone is encouraged to hang around for a picnic. Please bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert to share with the group and SSC will provide grilled hot dogs with the trimmings.

Following the picnic, it’s playtime again, with your choice of paddling, biking or hiking. Or just spread a blanket on the grassy field and enjoy the afternoon. For those who don’t own a kayak and would like to try it, we will have a couple available to try out.

DIRECTIONS TO PINCHOT:

• For those using a GPS 1180 Alpine Road is right across the street from the entrance.

• We will be starting the from the Conewago Parking Area.  Proceed as if you were headed to Roundtop via route 177 but instead of turning at the church continue on 177 and follow the signs into Pinchot.  For those who are going coming from the Lewisberry area go beyond the road to Roundtop and make a left onto Alpine Road. (This intersection if a little tricky since opposite the left hand turn to Alpine is Church Road.  Don’t be confused or take Church Road) There is an old school house on the corner.  Follow the road around the lake, and you will see a sign for the Conewago Day Use Area.  It is a big sign, you can’t miss it.

• When you enter the park, drive toward the lake until the road comes to a T.  Make a right and drive toward the end of the drive.  We will set up along the water on the northeast side of the picnic area.
