Gullifty’s, Camp Hill Tuesday, April 2, 6:30 pm If you went on a trip with SSC between April 2012 and March 2013, you are invited to attend our Picture Party, starting at 6:30pm. Snacks will be provided. Bring your trip photos to share with friends! 2013 Photo Contest: Enter your favorite 2012-13 trip photo(s) in our annual photo contest. Print copies entered will be returned to you after the judges cast their vote for their favorite photo at our banquet on April 27. The winner will receive a $50 cash prize and the honor of having their winning photo displayed in our monthly email newsletters, including credits. Ideally, photos will support cropping to 3.4:1 (approx. 3.4 times wider than tall). If you have any questions, please contact SSC’s photo historian Janet Carrick at photos@skissc.com.

President’s Corner

What an exciting year this will be for SSC and I am honored to serve again as your President! As you may recall, the Susquehanna Ski Club was formed in 1963 by a small number of AMP employees and was originally called the Harrisburg Ski Club. The club changed its name to SSC when it was incorporated in 1967 and we have since added the snowboarding community to our ranks. We are still one of the largest and most successful ski clubs in the Northeast with a great venue of domestic and international trips and year-round activities. With that in mind, we are so happy to be celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2013 and plans are underway for a major event later this year.

As is customary for spring, our Trip Committee has been busy selecting our new destinations and the Social Committee has a great schedule of events lined up already for the coming months. We have also done some awesome community service during the past year with our very successful February 9th Ski4Lifefundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, along with the help we provide Special Olympics on the ski slopes. We can always use your creative ideas, suggestions and presence in many of our volunteer positions, so now is the time to step up and contact me or your Board of Directors. In order to continue our success for another 50 years, we definitely need you to bring some new friends into the club, call back some old friends who may have gone missing, and participate in the many recreational activities we enjoy both on and off the slopes!

Congratulations to our newest members of the Board as we welcome their ideas at the table every month. Please take this opportunity to renew your membership so we can stay focused on our objectives and move forward with the times. We wouldn’t be the great club we are today without all the great members and volunteers we have had in the past, so let’s play it forward!

SSC’s Photo Historian, Janet Carrick, is collecting print and digital photos that show our members enjoying club activi-ties. Please give your post-it tagged (location & ID) print photos to Janet at the April 3 Picture Party, or mail them to 1136 Baish Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Digital pho-tos can be e-mailed to photos@skissc.com. Please limit your enthusiasm to 3 pictures per venue! All photos will be added to Scrapbook History 2002-2012 and may be used on SSC’s website, and in our publications and slideshows.

SSC’s membership year runs from April 1 to March 31, so your current membership expires on March 31, 2013. If you have not renewed yet, please do so today. We prefer that you renew through our website, but of course will accept hand-written checks and renewal applications. Be sure to note any name, address, phone or email address changes on the form. Special Olympics Needs Your Used Ski Accessories

Bob Hall, past SSC president and current representative of Area M Special Olympics, has contacted us to request member donations of used ski helmets, ski gloves and ski goggles for the Special Olympics Alpine Ski Team. Anyone who wishes to contribute these items can bring them to the Picture Party, or should contact Bob Hall at gotohall@aol.com to arrange pickup. If you include your name and address with the items dropped off at the Picture Party, you will receive a letter from Special Olympics attesting to your contribution for tax purposes. Many thanks in advance to those of you who donate to this worthy cause!!
